In yesterday's Monday Reading Club session , we discussed the book Living Without a Boss. The book that will make you love working for yourself, by Sergio Fernández . A book with the 50 mistakes that every entrepreneur should know and avoid, to enjoy their work, and maximize their benefits. The work is very dynamic and easy to read and provides examples and personal experiences that bring the theory and phrases of a coach like Sergio closer to the daily reality of every entrepreneur.
The debate began by emphasizing the need to determine SMART doctor data objectives (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Challenging and Time-bound) and write them down. It is surely not the first time we have heard about how convenient it is to be able to put objectives and a strategic plan on paper, but it never hurts to repeat it, since how many have not done so yet? Losing the fear of uncertainty and knowing how to sell , two premises that are also basic when it comes to being an entrepreneur.
And here an interesting question arose: what is selling ? The contributions were very varied and interesting: selling is honesty, it is knowing how to converse, it is maintaining a long-term relationship with the highest sales margin. It is managing a client portfolio over time, listening to the person's needs, selling is a "pain in the ass" ...
Maria Teresa, an active participant, pointed out: when you are going to sell, no one buys. Although it may sound paradoxical, what I wanted to highlight is that attitude is important; it is like in a romantic conquest. When you are going to sell, people get scared. When, on the other hand, you are going to have a good time with those you meet, to talk, to be interested in the other, to see how with what I offer I can help the other, that is when altruistic elements appear in the sale (helping, listening, solving), where one works with joy, and also the moment when selling is helping to buy (I loved this definition).
