HostGator vs. WP Engine – Speed and Uptime

Post by nusaiba129 »

Speed and uptime are the most important factors you need to consider when choosing a web host . Almost all hosting providers guarantee super-fast website speed and high website availability. To test whether HostGator and WP Engine really live up to their promises, we decided to test their page speed and uptime guarantees by signing up with each of them and creating two test sites.

To mirror the production environment on our test sites, we installed WordPress, added dummy content, and uploaded some images.

We ran a few different experiments on these test sites using the following rich people database tools:

Pingdom : To monitor page load times on our websites.
Load Impact : To analyze how servers handled an increase in traffic to our websites during a peak load time.
Bitcatcha : to find out the performance of servers in 8 different geographic locations.
