In 2015, Organic Law 1/1996 on the Legal Protection of Minors was amended by Law 26/2015, of July 28 , amending the system of protection for children and adolescents, as well as Law 45/2015, of October 14, on Volunteering. This is in response to Spain's ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

In person: the completed application must be submitted (legible and in capital letters) to one of the Territorial Offices of the Ministry of Justice/Government Delegations and Subdelegations or to Madrid Calle Bolsa 8 (an appointment is required) and it is necessary to prove the identity of the person requesting it.
Obtaining a certificate of sexual offences is completely free of charge . The document can be requested by any adult; in the case of minors, their parents or guardians may request it on their behalf.

Who must present it? As we have indicated above, those people who carry out an activity that involves regular contact with minors are required to present this certificate at the workplace . Examples: child monitors, teachers, pediatricians, etc.

In the case of foreigners, they must provide this certificate and, when they are adults, a certificate from their country of origin stating that they have not committed this type of crime.
