ChatGPT works with a technique called a transformer neural network, specifically a version called a Transformer Decoder. This network architecture allows the model to generate human-like text based on input data.
ChatGPT is based on a machine learning technique known as unsupervised learning, which means that GPT Chat has been trained on various Internet texts and learned to predict the next word in a sentence. By predicting billions of sentences, the model learns over time to create better and more contextually relevant sentences.
To summarize, ChatGPT AI works something like this:
Input: The user provides a prompt or input. This could be a question, a sentence to be completed, or a topic to write about, etc.
Context analysis: The model analyzes the prompt along with all relevant dialogue history to create what is called context. It is important to note that it has no memory of past interactions outside of the current conversation.
Response generation: ChatGPT generates a response based on context. It does this word by word, predicting each subsequent word based on the words it has already generated for the response.
Output: This becomes part of the context for the next round of data input by the user.
